U-Ming FSM won MPA International Safety@Sea Award 2022
Ericsson is pleased to announce that U-Ming's Fleet Safety Management (FSM) has won the Singapore International Safety@Sea Awards. The International Safety@Sea Awards are given out annually by the Maritime and Port Authority (MPA) of Singapore to recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to making the seas safer by ensuring high standards of control. U-Ming’s Fleet Safety Management (FSM) is made possible by Ericsson’s transformation consultancy, effective digital BSS solutions, including a data platform, and systems integrations for U-Ming.
Through the use of IoT, integrated systems collect emergent data, including main engine, AS, radar, and fire alarm data, as well as weather information data. This collected information is sent to offshore platforms, using high connectivity satellites for transfer. The data is then analyzed and turned into useful information for future improvement and control of the vessel systems.
U-Ming Marine Transport and Ericsson Shipping have upgraded the Fleet Safety Management system further this year by adding "weather information," "anchor warning," and "dangerous area display" functions. The joint creation of the Fleet Safety Management program exemplifies Ericsson's dedication to mastering the shipping sector and working with partners to realize cutting-edge ship management through advanced information and communication technology. The upgraded solution will help U-Ming Marine Transport increase operational effectiveness.
Fleet Safety Management increases efficiency, enhances safety, reduces costs, and decreases environmental risks by allowing for near-instantaneous ship position updates, assistance in route adjustments to avoid potential dangerous areas, and providing more accurate ship information to shore-based surveillance personnel.
Vicky Cheng, one of the lead solution architects on this project, emphasized the collaboration and cooperation between the Ericsson and U-Ming project teams as key to the success of the project. She noted how excellent the team members are, not only in their technical skills but also when facing customers, making the relationship with U-Ming stronger.
